This senior and graduate-level seminar covers the major areas of 20th century analytic philosophy, focusing especially on theories of reference, critiques of philosophy and responses to those critiques, and epistemology. Readings include selections from Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations, Ayer’s Language, Truth, and Logic, Kripke’s Naming and Necessity, as well as famous articles by Frege, Russell, Quine, Thomasson, Carnap, Davidson, Lewis, and Cartwright.[/reveal]
